The song was originally composed by Mikis Theodorakis and William Sansom for the soundtrack of the film Honeymoon (1959) directed by Michael Powel. In the film the song was performed by Marino Marini. The Beatles recorded the song for the BBC radio.
“The Honeymoon Song” tune became popular in Greece under the title “An Thymitheis t’ Oneiro Mou” (If You Remember in Your Dream). It was originally recorded with Greek lyrics in 1960 and was performed by Yovanna.

Composed by Mikis Theodorakis and adapted in French for the soundtrack of the film Les Amants des Teruel directed by Raymond Rouleau (1962). Detailed information about the film here.
The tune was at the same time used for the music of the play Omorfi Poli (Beautiful City) staged at Park Theatre in Athens in the summer of 1962. It was recorded with the bouzouki player Manolis Hiotis.

An English adaptation of Manos Hadjidakis’ tune “Mi Ton Rotas ton Ourano” (Don’t Ask the Sky) that was also popular in Greece and was recorded in 1959 with Mary Lo’s voice. The song also featured the soundtrack of the film “To Nisi ton Gennaion” (The Island of the Braves, 1959) where it was performed by the actor Tzeni Karezi.
